My international career started in 1986 when I joined the US Peace Corps to teach Physical Therapy in Thailand.
My professional skills have been applied in a variety of ways over the past 30 years.
Some illustrative examples include:
- Organizing repatriation for thousands of vulnerable individuals from Thailand to Cambodia;
- Providing rehabilitation and mobility devices for refugees in Ethiopia;
- Delivering cognitive and developmental therapy to AIDs’ affected orphans in Romania;
- Managing a complex rehabilitation program in Angola;
- Establishing landmine survivor networks in six countries;
- Implementing over 50 small grants to disabled peoples’ organizations in Uganda; and
- Providing technical assistance to USAID for physical rehabilitation and wheelchair programs.
- Evaluating multi-million-dollar rehabilitation and disability programs.
- Supporting government ministries to assess the rehabilitation situation using WHO tools and guidance.
